It’s Christmas day, and instead of being bundled up under blankets, SWL and I were off on our festive adventure. While putting the hire car through its paces, with a trip round Lanzarote; having already visited the Volcano we made for the Salinas De Janubio. What with it being Christmas day, the staff were not working and the business was shut for the day – including museum and shop.

All entirely understandable.

That didn’t stop us from admiring the view from above. I’d never seen Salt Flats before and, as you can see, I couldn’t resist exposing myself in front of the expansive grid where salt is harvested from the sea.

The first thing that I want to share is, under Spanish law, being topless in public is perfectly acceptable. I’ve been puzzling over this, and whether my Scavenger Hunt finds in Lanzarote really, truly count. It isn’t just a case of “when in Spain” though. I have a long, deep seated feeling of exposing my breasts to be a cheeky act. One that I’m very aware is not going to be appreciated by others. So, while the Spanish may not bat an eye, the family that cycled up to our viewpoint and stopped, just the other side of a big rock, may not have been so culturally accepting. I don’t wish to offend other tourists, of which there are many-many-many on the island, even in the “off season”.

So yes, I still displayed caution when flashing my tits at the Salinas De Janubio, even though Lanzarote law didn’t need me to.

Which, in turn, made us giggle even more.

Shortly after this viewpoint, we headed further South, to the tourist hotspot of Playa Blanca. Where we dined on Paella, enjoyed the views and then marvelled at the pharmacy vending machine.
