South Hessary Tor: Bagged At Last!

Exposing my breasts atop South Hessary Tor beside the sword in the stone.

I’m taking you back to the Moor today, back to exploring Dartmoor 365, and back to a tor I’ve passed many times before but rarely visited in its own right. South Hessary tor sits about a mile South East of Princetown, beside the well travelled and maintained trail. Keep walking and you’ll reach Nuns Cross, the old farmhouse and Fox Tor mire – the latter inspiring Conan Doyle’s Grimpen mire in The Hound Of The Baskervilles. Further along the route, which become increasingly chonky underfoot, you’ll spot the volcano and, eventually, arrive in Ivybridge.

But back to South Hessary Tor. A two mile out and back route, it is very well visited. The well maintained trail makes it accessible to mobility scooter users. One of a number of exits from Princetown, the point where many Dartmoor adventures begin. Even little legs can walk this far. And the promise of pulling a Sword from the Stone may coax reluctant youngsters to push outside their comfort zone.

The “sword” is in fact shaped like a cobra. It is one of four boundary markers placed around this corner of the moor to settle a dispute. Eylesbarrow, North Hessary tor and Great Mis tor are the other three locations. The latter has been replaced by a military firing zone warning pole.

You can imagine how popular the area around South Hessary tor is.

SWL and I have had many, merry Moorland adventures. Often with Bliss trotting along beside us. She is aging, however. In spite of good health, her ability to walk far is hampered by spinal arthritis and sore hips. Saying that, she still loves to join us so we adapt. Make our walks Bliss friendly. And that means exploring, and exposing myself at, easier to reach tors. But it is a trade off. With easier access comes more people. With more people comes less opportunity to flash my tits atop a tor.

But flash my tits is exactly what I did.

The juice being well worth the squeeze. SWL expertly snapped the sword and my breasts while stomping on Bliss’ leash. Preventing her finding a way to join me on the looming granite outcrop.

South Hessary Tor really is a treat, for established hikers and those new to the Moor. For some different views Tors Of Dartmoor may be a good place to start. And if you’re ever in Devon, naturally I’d recommend going and taking some of your own photos there. And if you decide to join in with Tits Out Tor Bagging I’d love to see your results.
