Naked Yoga: An Artistic Edit

An edit of me holding a naked yoga pose (Cow Face) in a graveyard.
Image Edited by: Gentle Newman

In the Autumn of 2020 Sir had tasked me to create myself a new photographic task. I took myself off to a local graveyard and, in the crisp sunshine I stripped off for some naked yoga, aiming to capture poses throughout the flow with my camera. It was a successful mission, and I got some amazing images that I’m very proud of. At the same time my twitter friend, GentleNewman, offered his artistic editing services to me, and I gratefully sent off a few pictures.

The Cow Face pose that I’m melting into above had two different tweaks. This one is the softer, brighter and more playful of the two. I love the way he’s captured the light as it bursts into shot, while also maintaining depth and softness. I can feel the contentment I felt in that moment.

Quite unlike his alternate edit of the same shot.

You may or may not remember, but in December 2020 I wrote about my rock bottom. Cataloguing a particularly frightening moment in my mental health journey. The header was his other tweak of the same shot, it feels like a completely different time, captured and shared. .

Sinful Sunday

  1. WOW!! THIS is gorgeous piece of work. This could hang in most any gallery.

It portrays a mood, tells a story and delights the eye.

Thank you and thank your editor.

  2. Oh yes indeed it does. It is one of the things I love about editing images is how you can totally change the narrative of a shot by editing it in different ways
