It’s not very often I tap out, but I was close during a fun evening of rope with 1001011. I asked him to bend me, try to break me, contort me, and hurt me. Maybe I didn’t use all of those words, but it was quite close. And I squeaked. I yelped. I made weird, deep purring noises while processing the twists and turns. At one point my nose and left foot started twitching in unison, much to both of our amusement.

Steal me, deal me, anyway you heal me
Maim me, tame me, you can never change me
Love me, like me, come ahead and fight me
Please me, tease me, go ahead and leave me
Bend me, break me
Anyway you need me

Garbage, I Think I’m Paranoid

For the record, he definitely bent me, and he was verging on breaking me. As a long standing rope-friendship, I love love that we do mean things together. Without the trust and respect that we have nurtured, the calm space that we find together, I wouldn’t be asking him to bend and break me.
