The tale of Yellowmead being transformed started, as many good stories have done, on Instagram. You remember that profile that got ripped from under my feet? Well, that’s where this conversation began. (Which should reinforce how how long I’ve been getting excited arts week!)
Lots and lots of beautiful ropey goodness whizzing past my eyes, I was almost blind to it. And then my gaze caught on a piece of art. My thumb tapped on the tagged artist. And my finger started double tapping his posts with little red hearts.
What caught my eye was JimbobVendredi’s beautiful artwork. He mostly worked in pen and ink, which I love, and had a gentle touch, but he was also working on a new style which included coloured ink. Plus he does commissions. As soon as I saw that I had to reach out and ask for more information.
Would he be able to transform yellowmead into art?
He actually made me two images, one I am holding on to until a later date, and this one. You might recognise it from the post Absolute Calm? I know I have shared lots of the outdoor yoga bondage images that Loki and I created last April, but this artistically loved image from Yellowmead transformed my idea of how accessible art is. Jim is an absolute sweetheart, and I love following him on my new profile. But more than that I loved the postman bringing my little package of art.
Yellowmead Transformed may be destined for Loki’s wall (shhh, don’t tell him!) but the other piece of art is going nowhere. And I’ll share it here as soon as it becomes relevant to the story. For now, just know that it includes rope and colour and artistic license!
