My fourth and final February Photo Fest week is all about the art. Before I’d even decided to take part in the challenge this year I spotted the wandering artist on Instagram. That’s not actually true… We’ve been friends on my vanilla Instagram for a long time and when she revamped her profile I was sucked in. She has long been a cheerleader for how to boost body confidence. As a result of an exciting opportunity her end, her journey took a leap and took me with her. The mini Nudies is one little project. Not only are these little pieces of art affordable, they can also personalised. Initially she shared a custom piece of a lady who’d had a mastectomy. The anonymous woman celebrated her strength in survival as well as her new body shape.
At that moment I needed a little help with body confidence. My appreciation of my breasts was wavering! Which could only mean one thing. I needed to reach out and ask if she could paint me. We discussed colours, I shared my breasts (not something I do often, on that side of the internet) and talked all things self-worth.
As I waited for her to create this little piece of art, my own, personal body confidence drawing, I had a flash of inspiration. I would definitely take part in #FebPhotoFest and this year I’d include a week of art. Which meant I’d need to reach out to some other wonderful artists.
Body confidence and social media don’t always go hand in hand, but on this occasion I have found a special treat. If you don’t have Instagram please do get in touch and I’ll share her website with you.
