Isolation: A Way To Know Ourselves.

Image: PeteMcD

These isolation rules continue to make my life feel pressurised. But, in true Barefoot style, I’m trying to look on the brightside, find the silver lining! I’m taking the time to look though my files. I can’t get out to work with new photographers, but I can explore the images that came before all of – gestures wildly at the current state of the world – this!

I remember this shoot from 18 months ago fondly, though it feels like so long ago now. Do you recall… I shared one of the images that PeteMcD and I created. This was for Sinful Sunday shortly after the trip up onto Dartmoor with corsets, gas masks and cake. The reason I chose the location was partly due to the handy parking and tea van nearby, but also due to a walk I had taken a few weeks earlier with slave lytton.

This spot was fresh in my mind after a refreshingly misty day up on the moors. Especially considering the varied threads of conversation. One of which revolved around a zombie apocalypse and locations which would provide shelter, security and all the things that humans NEED to survive.

Tonight the wander through my archives has taken me back to not only the walk with a photographer, but also a walk with a great friend. Revisiting conversations on his zombie apocalypse planning, tonight I’m wondering if I could pinch his spot, near where this picture was taken. Set up home in isolation with my two lovely boys and a little bit of special PPE. Maybe Slave Lytton can come too, he found it first!

It’s always good to have a plan.

  • The mask looks quite appropriate in these times ;)
Love the dramatic effect of the image.

  • Isolation has been a good way of finding more out about ourselves, I think we’ll learn even more as we begin to emerge again.

    • It's also interesting to learn about friends. Seeing the way that my close circle has managed has been a true insight.

  • This picture creates such a vibe! I really like the grunginess of it, and the black and white really helps

    • He did some really incredible edits, and it was interesting to work with someone who has a specific style (50s glamour) but was trying to push his own boundaries with fetish style.

  • I’ve seen people walking around wearing similar masks. Even in this time and age, they stand out. Great pic!
