X Friction Excitement

Sharing the x-friction excitement on bare legs

Barefoot’s bondage A-Z took us to wonderful wax play yesterday. Today I want to share my x friction excitement! I warn you, it’s contagious!

The X friction is one of the main ways that I secure two pieces of rope together  when they are at right-angles. It locks them into position, but can also be removed relatively quickly, should the need arise.

Fortunately, this friction is aptly named. It looks like an X, and when I tie it behind me, during a self tie, it undoubtedly feels like an X too.

As far as frictions go, it is straightforward to build too. I have tried to write the instructions here, but I’m a show-er rather than a tell-er. However, Lazarus, over at the Duchy, explains the technique in a clear and simple way in his section on frictions.

I do seem to get a bit wound up about the little things when it comes to rope. I feel if I can learn to do the basics really well, the rest will follow. This seems to be the way things go for me in my everyday, so why wouldn’t it work like that with rope too?

  1. Good way to tie up the letter X!
I love letter X posts! Always such variety.
It’s hard to believe the blogging challenge is almost over for 2021. Then the after survey, reflections, and the road trip sign-up.
Plus, I’m taking part in the Bout of Books read-a-thon in May. So much excitement!
