Keeping Watch At The Lifeguard Tower

,

The lifeguard tower is a location I have wanted to capture for months now.

Over the summer I spent plenty of time at the beach. With my children and alone. There is one beach we have enjoyed visiting regularly which has a lifeguard tower. Unfortunately/understandably it is on a busy stretch of promenade and there were ALWAYS lots of families milling around. Enjoying the seaside in much the same way I do with my little clan. I may be about pushing boundaries, but there are some lines I will not cross. For example, it is important that children are not to be exposed to my play. The only reason I have ever needed to turn down tasks from sir is when I have not been able to ensure I could do it without my small people noticing something.

This weekend just gone I have a decadently restful weekend with my lovely friend B.

I had asked her for some help with a particular scavenger hunt location. She was nervously excited to help, although we didn’t end up visiting the pub in the end. However, we did take her dog for a walk on the beach and while there I spotted this lifeguard tower. There were no lifeguards on duty as we are off season now, and though the beach had a steady stream of dog walkers there were windows of opportunity. Patience is a virtue, or so I am told! With this in mind I caught her eye, dashed up the steps and she took the three images below.

Later that afternoon we sat thawing out and drinking tea, in the warmth of her lounge. I don’t often edit my images at all, so you can imagine my surprise when my phone pinged… She had been tinkering, as she likes to, and sent the above image across, I thought it fit with the prompt for Sinful Sunday. She brought a little sunshine to an otherwise grey, damp and murky photograph.

In much the same way as she brightens my world.

For the second week in a row I am sharing my seaside adventures with Modesty Ablaze. Her stint On Lifeguard Duty comes from her summer holiday in 2014. K has her own special style of mischief, and the stories that surround her scavenger hunting always raise a smile for me.
