Light at the end of the tunnel

Regular readers will know me as an exhibitionist, kinkster and eternal optimist. Someone who rarely fails to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Or more accurately to trust that it is there, even if the tunnel is long and dark.

If you are familiar with my blog you will know that one of my favourite things to do is run. I also have a great love of music and dancing. Well, not traditional dancing, more moving to tunes in my own inimitable way. Whenever I run through this particular tunnel I start shimmying down the long underground passage. I am always taken back to the mid 90s, at the time I was diving head first into the world of drum and bass, all thanks to an introduction to DJ Hype and this tune:

The samples in this track are from an interview on near death experiences. A woman brought back to life telling how she felt the light at the end of a long dark tunnel. I’ve never been through that, but when I am recovering from a flare up of my depression it feels very much like this.

There is a light at the end of every tunnel.

Some tunnels just happen to be longer than others.

About a month ago I was lucky to have company, and so we captured this location for the scavenger hunt. I love the top image, but as “evidence” that I actually revealed myself in this busy tunnel I wanted to add the second.

It’s at times like this when I see all of my many worlds lining up.

I love not needing to choose whether I am one thing or the other. If I had to ask the questions of which mask to wear every time I left the house… that would make life very hard! I hope I have got the balance right? Where I can “hide” in plain sight, as me.

That feels like a very bright light at the end of my tunnel.

What does yours look like?

This week I am sharing Rebel’s Notes Tunnel post. These pictures were taken back in 2013 and it is a different Marie to the blogger we know now. She has definitely lost some of the shyness over the last 7 years

  1. Brilliant location! And whilst I love the silhouette version and how that ties into the feeling of depression I also love the reveal too.

    1. It wouldn’t be a scavenger hunt post without the reveal. It is an amazing tunnel, one of Brunel’s triumphs. And it is so dark in the middle, and it drips, and… (I may have a bit of a thing for damp, dark places!)

  2. I like how it’s hidden that you exposed yourself. Your dark silhouette works really well in this picture and in a way it represents the hiddenness of trying to secretly take pictures like this. Though I guess as an exhibitionist you don’t always want to fully hide it? So I like that you also added the other picture 😉

    1. Thank you ML. you’re right, as an exhibitionist I do enjoy sharing the mischief fully.

  3. I love the silhouetted image, and that tunnel really looks like a brilliant place for photos! Thank you for highlighting my tunnel post, and reminding me how far I have come 🙂

    1. The tunnel is very busy, its a popular family walking and cycling trail. We were really lucky to get such a clear spell to take the set of images.

It’s all about growth, isn’t it? And it is interesting to see how far others have come. N x
