Joyful Scavenging

Standing on the golf course with my breasts out for some joyful scavenging

Today I took a trip across the moor for a visit to my good friend SWL. Parts of her world are looking pretty dark at the moment and she needed a little Barefoot sunshine. Wondering if a little joyful scavenging might help I had sent her over a link to the scavenger hunt locations. She had drawn up a list of potential sites for us to try on our run today. She does love a list, and has been stretching her boundaries in supporting me to get tricky images.

We managed to get a few while we completed the route she had in mind.

We decided to capture a moment on the golf course at the end. It was getting late, and most of the golfers had gone home so we parked up and found a hole. The sun came out at just the right moment and illuminated the tor behind me, the sky a natural oil painting above me. Once she had taken some pictures I put my top back on and we scanned through them. The one above was my favourite, but the one below made her face crease with unbridled joy. So I decided to share both.

Her laughing face was the best view of the day!

On the return to the car we were discussing smiles. How happiness is an active choice for both of us. One that needs nurturing. Yes, some days more than others. We share the thought that being reliant on another for that wonderful feeling is a fools errand. To have my own stores which I can share with those closest to me, and they in turn bring their own cups full of joy to share when I need a top up. There is a Tibetan proverb that sums it up much better than me:

Seeking happiness from outside ourselves is like waiting for sunshine in a cave facing north.

It is an interesting analogy for a long held belief of mine. I know that seeking validation from others in my own pursuit of happiness has only ever led to the pain and sadness. It took being excluded from my family and those I thought were friends, after leaving P, to realise that it is OK to stand on my own. And the 5 years since then have been a roller coaster of highs and lows. In my kinks the darker my explorations the more I appreciate the light. The same applies to the rest of the world. I embrace the lightness of being unapologetically me. However, there will always be darkness to learn from.

Life is pretty wonderful, sometimes we just need a reminder of how good things really are.

  1. First, I love these images. And then, I leaned closer to the screen, reading the quote, and the paragraph that followed. I read it a couple of times, as there are some lessons for me in there. Thank you for sharing it.
